SWAYAM gives students the freedom and chance to enrolL in courses and earn multiple certificates.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) requested Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) on Friday to adopt the courses offered through the SWAYAM platform so that the student community can gain the most.

SWAYAM gives students the freedom and chance to enroll in numerous courses and earn multiple credentials.

The University Grants Commission (Credit Framework for Online Learning Courses through Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) Regulations, 2021 enable an institution to offer up to 40% of the total courses offered in a particular programme in a semester via online learning courses provided by the SWAYAM Platform.

Since the debut of the SWAYAM Platform in 2017, 7,115 courses have been offered, with 2.72 crore learners enrolled. Similarly, the platform has given 11.13 lakh certificates.

During the lockdown caused by the unusual COVID 19 epidemic, the SWAYAM platform was used over 2.5 lakh times.

The Ministry of Education launched an online poll in May 2022 to learn about students’ attitudes towards SWAYAM MOOCs. “This poll gives feedback and insights about student preferences at both the national and state levels.” According to the UGC letter, more than 70% of students (10,000+) from 338 universities/institutions in 29 states showed an interest in receiving credit for SWAYAM courses.
