SUMMER INTERNSHIP

Summer Internship Program

The RCM has a vibrant Summer Internship Program Cell which inducts students into a 2 month’s project work with the Industry.

The Cell is lead by Prof. Sushant Nanda, an alumnus of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management with over three decades of rich experience in Industry and academia. The team is supported by Mr. Sudhir Kumar Sahoo, Mr. Malaya Das and Ms. Narmada Nayak

During the second trimester, the students are briefed about the importance of Summer Internship Program and it’s relevance to the Industry. The students are divided on the basis of their locational preferences and the verticals in which they wish to work (like Marketing, Finance, HR etc.).

Over 200 organizations who participate in our Summer Internship Program and on an average a student gets two options to choose from. After the logistics of organization, place and verticals are finalized, a thorough analysis of the domain of the project is analyzed at a micro level and a faculty guide (whose research expertise relates to the same) is attached. The faculties guide around 10 students each during the summer vacation. They not only guide about the research methodology but also during the entire process of data collection, analysis and interpretation. Liasioning with Industry guide is also done by the faculties so that the research leads to definite problem solving or strategic decision making from the industry’s point of view.

After completion of the project, approval is sought from the industry guide (who certifies the same) and a presentation is made before the committee comprising of Internal as well as External Faculties. The evaluation is completed as a whole. Many of the students also get PPOs for doing outstanding work during the Summer Internship Program.

As a part of developing the industry-institute interface, RCM organizes a Summer Internship Program for the students of MBA, MA in Tourism Administration, PGDM. The Summer Internship Program cell interacts with different industries, corporate houses well in advance and obtains their consent to accommodate our students for Summer Internship Program during May-June every year. Students are given a wide choice for selecting the industry, place of training and the topic in which they would like to take up the project work. They visit the industry, discuss with the company executives to finalize the scope and other dimensions of the project work. Back home the faculty members thoroughly guide students regarding problem identification collection of data analyzing and interpreting the data to arrive at viable solution and implementable suggestions. On completion of the project, the students prepare presentations under the direct supervising the faculty guide and present the same for evaluation.

RCM has gained substantive advantage in this process of industry interaction and the corporate houses are more inclined to take our students for final placement based on the good work done by our students during Summer Internship Program.
