Recently, the UGC published a public notice warning students and other stakeholders not to enrol in the Open International University for Alternative Medicines. They also warned against enrolling in the National Board of Alternative Medicines.
There is always a rush among students to apply for admission to their preferred academic institutions as admission season approaches. However, many students who don’t acquire the seat they want can get duped. They fall prey to false colleges or schools that aren’t accredited by the government of the country.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has been providing updates and data on self-styled universities on a regular basis. The UGC has sent a public notice warning students and other stakeholders not to enrol in the National Board of Alternative Medicines. They also mentioned the Open International University for Alternative Medicines.
The UGC had stated in its notice that these schools were offering a number of degree programmes/courses. This was in flagrant violation of the UGC Act, 1956.
The UGC notice read, โWe caution students and other stakeholders not to take admission in the above-mentioned self-styled institutions. Doing so may jeopardize their careers.โ
Additionally, the UGC and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which supports technical education in India, issued a warning against Pakistani educational institutions.
They advised Indian students not to enrol in any college or educational facility in Pakistan. According to the UGC, as per a report by DNA, students studying education in Pakistan will not be eligible for jobs. Furthermore, they will not be eligible for higher education in India.
