Odisha, formerly known as Utkala/Kalinga is known for its ancient voyages to far off lands such as Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Indonesia, Bali, on wooden Ships called (Boitas), sailing across the oceans to trade in spices, silk, and artefacts in exchange for gold and others commercial goods .The journey was tough and long but resulted in massive gains .
