Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) has taken the initiative to digitise all of its physical records in preparation for the introduction of six modules of the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) programme and the launch of nine new online services.
BPUT Vice-Chancellor Professor C. R. Tripathy presided over a meeting of the Board of Members, which reportedly adopted a decision in this regard on Friday.
Following the preparation of a cost estimate, BPUT is likely to approach an appropriate central or state agency to complete the process of digitising all university documents.
Among other things, the tabulation of register, exam, financial, and administrative records will be retained in digital form.
According to V C Tripathy, the institution has already digitally preserved and stored diplomas in digi-lockers for convenient access by diploma holders or their current or potential employers.
He further said that BPUT is the first institution in Odisha to launch nine online services for students through the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC). This effort eliminates the need for students from remote locations to physically travel to the BPUT headquarters in order to obtain a duplicate certificate, a migration certificate, and other services.
Notably, BPUT hasโฏalready assigned the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) a six-month assignment to install the ERP programme at a cost of roughly Rs 7 crore.
“ERP programme is getting implemented in six modules, including learning and management, faculty development, finance, research and development, student-centric services, and affiliation services,” TNIE reported VC Tripathy as saying.
