AICTE has completed the translation of six SWAYAM online courses into eight different Indian regional languages: Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has sought the participation of faculty members and PG learners of various educational institutes for SWAYAM online courses in 12 regional languages.
The translation of 80 SWAYAM online engineering courses into 12 different Indian regional languages—Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Assamese, Odia, Punjabi, and Urdu—has been required by the AICTE and IIT, Madras (NPTEL).
AICTE had specifically designated 19 SWAYAM online courses out of these 80 online courses for translation into various Indian regional languages. Three first-year engineering online courses and three other SWAYAM online courses have been successfully translated into eight Indian regional languages by the AICTE.
AICTE has completed the translation of six SWAYAM online courses into eight different Indian regional languages: Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu. However, translation of these six courses is to be done in the remaining four languages: Assamese, Odia, Punjabi, and Urdu.Â
Similarly, AICTE has set a target to complete the translation of the remaining 13 SWAYAM online courses into twelve different Indian regional languages: Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Assamese, Odia, Punjabi, and Urdu.
Remuneration:
AICTE has fixed an amount of Rs 3500 per hour per course for one language of the translation script to be paid as an honorarium to the translators for translating the online courses into the specific language of their choice. They would also be awarded a certificate upon completion of the translation of a course into a specific language of their choice out of twelve different Indian regional languages.Â
AICTE would also need the services of validators later on for the validation of these translated online courses into different Indian regional languages. Validators would be paid an honorarium of Rs 2500 per hour, per course, for one language.
