UGC forms New Framework for Undergraduate Programmes, Learn More HereĀ

The Curriculum and Credit Framework and the CBCS have both been updated by UGC for undergraduate programmes.

A new framework for undergraduate programmes has been established by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The UGC updated the CBCS and created the Curriculum and Credit Framework for undergraduate programmes in response to NEP recommendations.

According to the new FYUP curriculum, applicants can choose from a variety of entry and exit choices with a UG certificate, UG diploma, or degree based on the total amount of credits earned.Ā

The undergraduate programme is 8 semesters long and lasts 4 years. Students who choose to enroll in a three-year UG programme may withdraw after the third year. Students who withdraw after the first or second year will receive either a UG Certificate or a UG Diploma, depending on how many credits they earned. Students who receive a UG certificate or diploma may return and complete the degree programme in three years.

Students who enroll in a three-year UG programme will successfully complete the programme and be awarded a UG degree in the major discipline. Candidates who complete their degrees in four years will be awarded a four-year UG honors degree in the major discipline.Ā

Students who received 75% or above in the first six semesters and who choose to complete an undergraduate research project or dissertation with the aid of a university or college faculty member in their fourth year are those who did so. The major discipline will be the subject of the research project or dissertation.

The freedom to transfer between institutions will allow students to engage in multi- and/or interdisciplinary learning. They can even change their learning methods (offline, Online, learning, and hybrid modes of learning).

The following are the new curriculum’s key components:

  • The ability to switch between different academic disciplines.
  • The chance for students in all fields to select the courses they are most interested in.
  • Enabling several entry and departure choices with an undergraduate certificate, undergraduate diploma, or undergraduate degree based on the number of credits earned.
  • The ability for students to move freely between institutions so they can engage in multi- and/or interdisciplinary learning.
  • The ability to transition between different learning methods (offline, ODL, and Online learning, and hybrid modes of learning).
  • While enrolled, students may be allowed to take breaks, but the maximum period allowed to complete the programme is seven years.
