The UGC Chairman went on to stress the importance of utilising modern digital technology to provide engaging content to connect with students via the expanding availability of the internet.
An announcement regarding the National Digital University would be made soon, according to Jagadesh Kumar, the chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
According to Kumar, many students who are unable to enrol physically at a college or university can today take advantage of online programmes. Similarly to this, enrollment in online programmes has been steadily rising.
However, Kumar noted that once the national Digital University and flexible online education regulations are announced, things will pick up even more.
The UGC Chairman continued by stating the necessity of utilising contemporary digital technology to create captivating digital content and connect with students via the expanding availability of the internet. For students to have access to top-notch education and develop their skills and knowledge, it must be cheap.
Earlier, the UGC released an important public notice advising students and the public not to be misled by advertisements for online PhD programmes offered by Edu Tech Companies in collaboration with Foreign Educational Institutes.
The UGC Chairman provided figures, stating that 371 programmes may be offered by 66 higher education institutions, of which Central, state universities, private universities, and institutions believed to be universities each offer 21, 166, 112, and 72 programmes, respectively.
Currently, 345 programmes are being provided by universities all around the nation to over 72,400 students, including both Indian and international students. According to Kumar, this is an increase of 179% from the 25,905 pupils from the previous year. In comparison to 14,38,101 students in the previous academic year, there have been 20,37,676 students enrolled across 86 HEIs and 1078 programmes.
