The University Grants Commission (UGC) has proposed that higher education institutions develop strategies for incorporating the “Panch Pran” and “LIFE” movements’ spirit into the system. Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about the “five resolves” (Panch Pran) and their applicability for the next 25 years as the country enters the “Amrit Kaal” in his address to the nation on this year’s 76th Independence Day.
The Panch Pran includes the resolve to advance the nation as a developed India, the eradication of all signs of slavery, pride in India’s history and legacies, the power of unity and solidarity, and people’s responsibilities to the country.
“Prime Minister, through the Lifestyle for the Environment (LIFE) mission, urges the nation to live a lifestyle that is in tune with our planet and does not harm it.
In his letter to HEIs, UGC Secretary Rajnish Jain stated that “the need of the hour is to overcome the difficulties faced by our planet by utilising human-focused, collective efforts and robust action that enhance sustainable development.”
Higher education institutions (HEIs) are advised to develop strategies for incorporating the “Panch Pran” and “LIFE” movements’ spirit into their systems of higher learning. The actions taken in this regard could be published on the University Activity Monitoring Portal (UAMP) run by the UGC, he continued.
