RCM Students Participate in “Jibana Jindabad” – A Powerful Awareness Programme on Preventing Self-Harm

Bhubaneswar, August 11, 2025 – The Rail Auditorium in Bhubaneswar came alive with emotion, inspiration, and life-affirming messages as students from the Regional College of Management (RCM) attended “Jibana Jindabad”, an awareness programme organised by the Police Commissionerate Bhubaneswar-Cuttack in association with Naman Foundation.

The Jibana Jindabad initiative aims to address the urgent need for conversations around self-harm prevention and mental well-being, especially among the youth. Through engaging activities, stage performances, real-life stories, and motivational speeches, the event empowered students to value life and seek support during challenging times.

A Warm and Interactive Beginning

The programme began with an ice-breaking activity titled “Shake Hands with a Compliment”, encouraging participants to greet the person to their left, right, front, or back within 30 seconds while offering a genuine compliment. This light-hearted start perfectly reflected the Jibana Jindabad spirit of spreading kindness and positive connections.

Shortly after, the Chief Minister arrived, greeted warmly by the audience. His presence underscored the significance of the cause, reinforcing that mental health and suicide prevention require collective efforts from all sections of society.

A Heart-Wrenching Moral Message

The first impactful segment of Jibana Jindabad was a deeply emotional video. It portrayed the story of a young individual who ended his life after repeated career setbacks. The raw and honest depiction left many in the audience visibly moved, particularly the students, reminding everyone that no failure is worth a life.

Open Discussions on Youth Challenges

Following the video, representatives took the stage to engage in a candid conversation about the struggles today’s youth face – academic pressure, job insecurity, family expectations, peer influence, and mental fatigue. The discussion aligned perfectly with the Jibana Jindabad mission of equipping young people with practical coping mechanisms, awareness of early warning signs, and the courage to seek help without hesitation.

Theatrical Depiction – 1942 Love Story

The programme’s cultural segment featured a stage performance of a 1942 love story. Beyond its romantic plot, the play carried a strong undertone of hope, resilience, and valuing relationships – all core messages of Jibana Jindabad. The engaging performance drew enthusiastic applause, proving that art can be a powerful medium to communicate life-saving messages.

Celebrity Presence that Inspired

Ollywood stars Sritam, Archita, Sabyasachi, Sailendra, and Divya brought star power to Jibana Jindabad, making the event even more relatable for the youth. Sailendra and Divya anchored the evening with energy, warmth, and motivational cues, ensuring the programme maintained its balance of entertainment and awareness.

The Story of Sujanpur – A Life-Saving Twist

Another highlight of Jibana Jindabad was the gripping stage performance set in the fictional town of Sujanpur. The plot revolved around people from all walks of life – from children to elders – struggling with personal challenges so overwhelming that they contemplated ending their lives. In a moving twist, a humble station line man intervened, delivering a heartfelt message on the irreplaceable value of life. His words prevented the tragedies, capturing the core philosophy of Jibana Jindabad: no matter how tough life gets, it is always worth living.

Sabyasachi’s Motivational Call

In one of the most inspiring segments of Jibana Jindabad, Sabyasachi invited several entrepreneurs to share their personal journeys of failure and comeback. Their stories proved that setbacks are temporary stepping stones to success, and that resilience often leads to greater achievements. For RCM students, these real-life accounts were living proof of the Jibana Jindabad message – that hope, persistence, and community support can turn around even the darkest moments.

Life Lessons for RCM Students

The Jibana Jindabad programme provided our students with crucial takeaways:

  • Recognise stress early and take proactive steps to manage it.
  • Value peer support and never underestimate the power of listening.
  • See failures as lessons rather than permanent defeats.
  • Use creative outlets like drama, storytelling, and art to express emotions.
