Odisha governor and chancellor of state public universities Ganeshi Lal has appointed Amiya Kumar Rath as vice-chancellor of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), the governor’s office said in a statement on Friday.
Rath, who belongs to Bhubaneswar, will work for five years with effect from the date he assumes office. He will work until further orders. He is currently working as an adviser (information and communication technology) at the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore. This appointment as Vice-Chancellor will allow Rath to leverage his extensive experience.
Rath has 33 years of teaching experience, which will be beneficial in his new role as Vice-Chancellor of BPUT.
“With nine books to his credit, Prof. Rath has also guided 12 Ph.D. and 17 PG scholars. He previously served as a professor of computer science at Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla. This was before joining NAAC.”
The professor said he would streamline the process of examinations, academics, and other things at the technical university. He will focus on his duties as Vice-Chancellor of BPUT.
“Our aim is to follow the academic calendar sincerely. Examinations will be conducted as per schedule, and results will be published on time, keeping the university’s calendar in mind.” It will solve many issues,” he added as Vice-Chancellor.
