This is only one of several actions the AICTE is taking to encourage entrepreneurship and technical innovation. A placement portal for engineering and diploma students in technical institutes in rural and tribal areas will be launched, according to plans made by the chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Prof. T. G. Sitharam.
“Around 1500 out of a total of 3000 technical institutes would fall under this criteria,” he said at a press conference at the College of Engineering Pune Technology (COEP). “The portal is ready and industry players are already part of it,” said the Chairman. “We can expect to launch it in one or two months.”
The AICTE is taking a number of actions to encourage technological innovation and entrepreneurship that involve design thinking. The organisation will begin offering “Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship Bootcamps” in six locations tomorrow in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell (MIC).
Students in engineering, science, business, and design can enroll in these five-day boot camps that focus on experiential learning. The ideation, development in accordance with design principles, and pitching processes will be guided and instructed to college and high school students. “We have funding up to 10 lahks each for 100 ideas,” said Vice Chairman of AICTE, Abhay Jere.
