On 20th September 2025, the Regional College of Management (RCM), in collaboration with Yi Bhubaneswar, hosted a Health & Accessibility Round Table. The event brought together over 150+ Yuva students, 8+ faculty members, and 20 persons with disabilities (PwDs). It was a remarkable platform of dialogue, compassion, and learning. The focus was on two pressing issues of our times—mental health and accessibility.
Mental Health Round Table: Breaking the Stigma
The first session on mental health awareness was led by eminent experts—Dr. Lagnagit, Dr. Anuradha Mahapatra, and Dr. Kirti Anurag.
Their collective wisdom illuminated the urgent need to destigmatize mental health discussions. The dialogue emphasized that mental health is just as important as physical health. It requires understanding, empathy, and consistent support.
Key takeaways included:
- Practicing mindfulness to stay grounded and focused.
- Understanding one’s capacity and boundaries to avoid burnout.
- Building resilience in the face of challenges.
- Recognizing that depression is real and requires attention, awareness, and timely help.
This session helped students and faculty alike realize that mental health awareness is not only about identifying struggles. It is also about creating a culture of support and compassion.
Accessibility Round Table: Voices of Determination
Moderated by Mr. Abhay (We4U), the Accessibility Round Table was a celebration of human spirit and inclusion. The participants were inspired by two extraordinary voices:
- Shri Sannyashai Behera, a Blind OAS Officer, who beautifully stated:
“Love is an atom bomb every individual carries.”
His words reflected the boundless strength of empathy and acceptance. - Ms. Suchitra Parida, World No. 2 Para-Athlete (F-55 category), whose mantra “मुझे आगे बढ़ना है!” (I want to move forward!) resonated as a call for determination and self-belief.
These stories highlighted that accessibility is not a privilege but a right, and inclusion empowers communities to rise together.
A Culture of Courage, Compassion & Change
The Health & Accessibility Round Table at RCM was more than just an event—it was a movement of awareness and action. By bringing together youth, faculty, and PwDs, the session encouraged a deeper understanding. It showed how mental health awareness and accessibility shape a compassionate society.
It reminded everyone present that true education goes beyond classrooms—it lies in empathy, acceptance, and courage to create an inclusive tomorrow.
At RCM, we are committed to nurturing future leaders who value mental health, champion accessibility, and drive meaningful change.
