On Sunday Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, said that the JEE, NEET, and UGC exams will now be given in Indian languages. Engineering is also being taught in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, and Bengali, said Shah.
The administration of exams in Indian languages, according to Shah, will be of great assistance to students. He made this statement on the sidelines of the presentation of Hindi textbooks for three topics for MBBS students in Madhya Pradesh.
On Sunday, Shah published three first-year MBBS textbooks in Hindi as part of the ambitious mission of the Madhya Pradesh government to provide medical education in the Hindi language.
The Home Minister called it historic and claimed that it will improve pupils’ ability and help them get over their “inferiority complex” related to not knowing English.
He added that the Center is planning to launch technical and medical education in the nation in eight additional languages.
Speaking at the event, Shah remarked, “Studying in own language will enhance students’ abilities. They should come out of their linguistic inferiority complex as today there is a government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and they can showcase their abilities in their language.”
While some forces in the globe have accepted the “brain drain” argument, Shah said PM Modi has transformed the theory to “brain gain.” He also praised PM Modi for speaking in Hindi on foreign forums.
The New Education Policy approved by the Center will restore pride in Indian languages, according to the Home Minister, who also foresaw an “educational revolution.”
“Language is merely a means of expression, however, intelligence is a natural gift that can be enhanced via education, and if education is provided in the mother tongue, it will be helpful in enhancing intelligence,” continued Shah.
On the other hand, the University Grant Commission (UGC) is already planning to merge the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and the National Eligibility Test (NEET) with the Common University Entrance Test (CUET).
