The Department of Higher Education, Government of Odisha, has taken a proactive step to enhance the learning environment in colleges across the state. In a recent notification, the department requested a detailed review of infrastructure gaps in degree-granting universities and Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs).
Snigdha Chamaptiray, Joint Secretary to the Government of Odisha, highlighted that the main goal of this exercise is to improve campus infrastructure and enrich the overall educational experience for students.
Objective of the Department of Higher Education’s Review
In her letter, Chamaptiray explained:
“Firstly, the primary objective of the assessment is to gain a thorough understanding of the current state of physical facilities available at the institutions. Moreover, it aims to identify improvements required and, in addition, recognize potential challenges. Consequently, this will highlight opportunities that can, therefore, help to strategically plan for the enhancement of our campus environment. Ultimately, the goal is to improve the overall learning experience for students all over the State.”
This initiative reflects the Department of Higher Education’s focus on strategic planning and long-term development in Odisha’s higher education sector.
Process of Reporting Infrastructure Gaps
- Principals of all degree colleges and TEIs have been instructed to submit detailed information about available infrastructure and requirements.
- The information must be submitted via a Google Sheet shared with the colleges.
- The deadline for submission has been set as August 14, 2023.
This reporting will serve as the basis for identifying infrastructure gaps. It will also help in prioritizing upgrades and ensuring that students benefit from a better campus environment.
