Orientation Programme PGDM 2019-2021

โ€œINIZIOโ€, meaning initiation, theย name for this yearโ€™s PGDM Orientationย programmeย (2019-21 batch) was organized onย 24thย July-27ย July 2019 at RCM. The gala four-day packedย programmeย included a wide range of innovative activities, fun and games with management lessons, meticulously designed and coordinated by senior students andย faculty.

The Chairman Dr Prabir Pal, Principal Dr P R Majhi, Dean MBA Drย Subratย Mishra, Dean PGDM Drย Sanghmitraย Pal and Prof (Dr)ย Itishreeย Devi addressed the students and parents at the inaugural session.ย 

Activities included a film show followed by a review of leadership and managerial lessons as well asย management tips from our own mythology the Mahabharata,ย conducted by the Communication Department. Eminent soft skill trainerย Jasobantย Narayanย Singhlalย conductedย a session onย โ€˜Personality Development, Professional Grooming & Corporate Etiquette.โ€™ย Students participated in the HR Department organizedย Nukkadย Natakย and the Marketing Department organized Ad-Mad show and PPT on a market survey while the Finance Dept. faculty conducted a workshop. Senior PGDM students facilitatedย all major activities as mentors. Students and mentors of winning teams were suitably awarded with cash prizes.ย 

The Orientation program concluded with a big bang-the Talent Hunt, wherein new students showcased their talents in different spheres like singing, dancing writing and reciting. Second-year students of PGDM also participated in this event. Inย short,ย the PGDM Orientationย Programmeย wasย a memorable week of learning with fun and festivity for the newcomers.ย ย 

MBA Orientation โ€˜IGNITEโ€ at RCM 

The Regional College of Managementย organisedย aย 3-dayย long Orientation Program for MBA students. With a unique nomenclature โ€œIGNITEโ€, theย Orientation consistedย of miscellaneous innovativeย leadershipย activities.ย With a healthy mix of both entertainment as well as learning,ย IGNITEย offered a unique experience to the freshmen.ย ย 

Prof. S R Mohapatra, Dean of Faculty Management, BPUT; Dr. Prabir Pal, Chairman RCM; Prof. Priti Ranjan Majhi, Principal; Prof. P K Tripathy, Dean of Research & IQAC; Prof. Sanghmitra Pal, Dean PGDM; and other distinguished guests graced the inaugural session.

Speaking on the occasion Prof (Dr) Mohapatra emphasized the importance of an MBA degreeย in identifying the strengths andย overcomingย weaknessesย of studentsย not only to be job seekers but also to be job creators. He added that the only way to enrich your personality is to inherit the trait of modesty.ย 

Dr Pal highlighted the merits of an elite institute like RCM. He saidย that RCMโ€™s vision is a passion for innovative education where preference is givenย more to teaching life skills. Theย institute emphasizes a holistic approach to makingย students corporate-ready. Dr P R Majhi observed that our objective is toย โ€œidentifyย goals and adopt innovative methodsย forย transforming education.โ€ A vote of Thanks was proposed by Prof L N D Panda.ย ย 

The studentsโ€™ activities included motivational videos, followed by ice-breakingย sessions andย leadership and managerial lessons by the Communication Department. Students also engaged in product marketing activities and puzzlesย organizedย by the Marketing Department, insight into HR perspectives and role-play by the HR Department, and Career prospects in Finance organized by the Finance Department. Seniorย MBA students coordinatedย all major activities as facilitators.

Students and facilitators of winning teams were suitably awarded prizes. The show ended with the flying of hot air balloons high up into the sky by studentsย as a symbolic representation of โ€˜aspiring to reachย greatย heights of successโ€™ in future.ย 

BBA Orientation โ€œNEOPHYTE-2K19โ€  

RCM organised its fifth BBA orientation programme NEOPHYTE-2K19 from 26thย Aug -28thย Aug 2019. The inaugural session was addressed by the Chairman,ย Drย Prabir Pal; Principal Drย Pritiย Ranjan Majhi;ย Head of BBA,ย Prof.Nituย Dash and Head of BCA, Prof. Gopi Krishna Panda.ย Dr.Prabirย Pal said that RCM believes in emphasizing the learning index rather than the teaching index which provides for an exclusive platform for students to remain updated with the new trendsย in management studies.ย 

Drย Majhi encouraged the students to follow their faculty and mentors who playย a very crucial roleย in laying the guidelines for them and shaping theirย future.ย Prof.Nituย Dash extended a hearty welcome toย the new batch of 2019 wishing them luck for an adventurous journey ahead and a bright future at RCM.ย A vote of Thanks was proposed byย Prof.Susmitaย Das,ย BBA Dept.ย 

The programme included a variety ofย management games and interactive sessions betweenย students and faculty.ย It began with ice-breaking sessions andย exciting games like marble ride,ย passing the ball etc. to offerย studentsย basics ofย different management and leadership lessons. On theย second day, eminent soft skillย trainer Mrย Jasobantย Narayanย Singhlalย briefed the students onย professionalย etiquette forย a successful career.

He spoke onย the importance of individual groomingย in order toย match the skillset required for the corporate world.ย Theย 3 dayย gala ended with a talent hunt show which provided a platform for the newcomers to showcase their talent in different spheres like dancing, singing, reciting, mimicry etc.ย ย 

Bca Orientation Programme Spartans 5.0 

BCAย Department of RCM organised their fifth orientation programme from 12thย Sept- 17thย Sept 2019.ย Distinguished Guest Dr Sunil Dhal (Sri Lanka University, Department of Computer Applications), Chairman RCM, Dr. Prabir Pal, Principal, Dr Priti Ranjan Majhi, Chief Speaker, Prof. L N D Panda, and Head of BCA, Prof. Gopi Krishna Panda, spoke at the inaugural session.ย 

Dr Pal observed that according toย recent news published in the Times of India,ย of theย 4 billion jobs created across the world, the maximum jobs are IT-based.ย Hence the huge demand for ITย professionals.ย 

So studentsย pursuingย higher studies in ITย shouldย remain updatedย with recentย developments to keep abreast of the times and remain competitive.ย 

Dr P R Majhi focussedย on the facilities available on the campus;ย like excellent computer labs, digital libraryย etc. and advisedย students to grab as much knowledge as possible from theย technology-orientedย course curriculum provided forย them.ย 

Addressingย theย studentsย Dr Sunil Dhalย saidย that it is very important forย students to have a learning attitude if they seek to excel in a particular field.ย Heย spoke about innovations in the IT sector like big data analysis,ย cloud computingย and machine learning and about the new research to developย emotional quotient in robots.ย 

He concluded thatย multidimensionalย skills including good communication are imperative for survival in the professional world.ย This was followed by some encouraging words from Head BCA Profย G K Panda and a vote of thanksย by Prof L N Dย Panda.ย 

Theย 5-dayย medley included a quiz competition, exciting games like word guessing, balloon dropping, Sack & Lemon on Spoon, blowing cups, Dare Games, Treasure Hunt etc.ย Theย programme ended with aย talent hunt show which provided students with an opportunity to showcase their uniqueย talents.
