Skill Center Odisha initiatives are expanding with the Centre’s approval of 6 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and 10 Skill Development Centers across 6 Left Wing Extremism-affected districts. The initiative aims to nurture youth talent, provide skill-based training, and improve employment opportunities.
Union minister of state for home affairs Nityanand Rai stated in the Lok Sabha that 5,36,427 candidates in Odisha have been trained till date under the flagship scheme – Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana and with the opening of these Industrial training institutes and Skill development centers.
There are 48 government ITI colleges, 589 private ITIs and 260 training centres in Odisha, but very few of them are in the Naxal affected areas, hence the establishment of these institutes will ensure betterment of road connectivity, telecom, infrastructural facility, skill development and employment.
